In the midst of Oliver's death, our family began to use the word "idle" as a safe word amongst each other. As time went on and we felt called to create something in Oliver's honor, the word became an acronym. IDLE: In Difficulty, Life Endures.
Our logo incorporates two olive branches coming together to create an "O" and representing peace.
In October 2025, Oliver tragically took his own life after several years of struggling with Bipolar Disorder and drug addiction. During that unimaginable, difficult time, we were reminded to idle--to stop and slow but not cease.
Though The IDLE Project is new, the battle of mental health and addiction is not. The struggles are oftentimes unseen or unheard of, support is difficult to find and strength is hard to come by. Like so many, Oliver was at the forefront of these struggles, trying his best to navigate them with what little tools he was given. It's now our mission to provide resources for care, connection, healing and more to those in our community who need it.
