What we're about & What we're doing

Our Philosophy

We saw first hand how hard recovery and healing can be. At a young age, Oliver had found himself in and out of treatment facilities. Many of which were state regulated and funded, making it harder. Oftentimes he wasn't met with care and compassion, instead with harsh rules and very little understanding that his mental illness and addiction went hand and hand. Through his experiences, we came to realize that there was a missing piece--especially in our local community on Martha's Vineyard. There were few resources available to Oliver to promote recovery and mental health in a positive way.

The IDLE Project was founded on the belief that healing and recovery happens through compassion, connection, support, and access to resources that nurture the mind, body, and emotional well-being of individuals and families. We recognize that recovery and mental wellness are ongoing journeys, and we are committed to creating spaces that encourage hope, resilience, restoration, and whole-person healing.

At The IDLE Project, individuals are met with no judgment and no stigmas--just as Oliver would have wanted.

Our Approach

The IDLE Project takes a community-centered and wellness-informed approach to healing. Alongside mental health and addiction support, we promote emotional wellness, resilience, recovery, grief support, and connection through educational programming, collaborative partnerships, and community initiatives. Through funding, we can offer these initiatives and provide assistance to those who need it.
